“400,000. Think about that number because that is the number of U.S. military veterans that live in the great state of Tennessee. And to each and every veteran that is in Tennessee, I want to wish you the happiest of Veterans Days. We’re so grateful for your service to our nation, and I hope that my service to our state and nation is something that honors the sacrifices that you and your family have made. And there are a couple of things I would draw to your attention that we’ve really worked on this year. The Veterans Health Care Freedom Act. This would allow you to show your VA card, and then get health care right in your community from a provider of your choice, and then send that bill to the VA. I think that’s the way we can fulfill that “health care to you” requirement – a promise that we have made. And it should be your choice if you want to go to the VA or you want to stay right there in your community. Also, in this year’s National Defense Authorization Act, I was successful in pushing forward with more veterans’ access to mammography and breast care. We are grateful that we’re going to be able to expand this, and we know our female veterans are going to appreciate having this. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, I hope you have a joyful and memorable Veterans Day. And, I wish you well. Thank you for the service that you provided, and thank you for gracing your hand and taking that oath to defend and protect all of us.”
