U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), member of the Senate Finance Committee, released the following statement on the Biden administration’s announcement of the first 10 medications under its new Medicare price-setting plan for prescription drugs.

“As the Biden administration takes a victory lap on their socialist price-setting program under their “Inflation Reduction Act,” they fail to acknowledge the harsh reality that this plan is risking the development of lifesaving treatments and cures for millions of Americans,” said Senator Blackburn. “This is simply just another dangerous scheme to insert more government control into Americans’ lives, while stifling the free market, eliminating jobs, and making vital drugs less accessible. It is the opposite of patient-centered care, and those living with rare diseases and cancers will suffer the consequences.”
