Blackburn Spokesperson Statement on UHG Cyber Breach Notifications
June 21, 2024
On June 7, Senators Blackburn and Hassan urged UnitedHealth Group to quickly assume responsibility and begin cyber breach notifications by June 21 for patient data that was exposed in the February ransomware attack on Change Healthcare. Below is a statement from a Blackburn spokesperson in response to UHG’s recent announcement that it would begin breach notifications.
“We are pleased that patients and providers will finally have clarity on this issue, but UHG should have done this months ago. Our office still has not received a formal response from UHG, however, the company did meet our deadline to begin issuing breach notifications by June 21.” – Blackburn Spokesperson
