Blackburn, Cruz Introduce Resolution to Strike Down FCC’s Net Neutrality Rules
July 23, 2024
NASHVILLE, TENN. – U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced a joint resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to reverse the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) recent reinstatement of net neutrality rules.
“Net neutrality is a solution in search of a problem,” said Senator Blackburn. “Rescinding net neutrality gave us faster speeds, lower prices, and more investment. The FCC’s reinstatement of net neutrality rules will give bureaucrats control over internet carriers and hurt Americans’ access to the internet. This legislation would reverse these harmful policies.”
BACKGROUND: |
- Earlier this year, the Democrat majority on the Federal Communications Commission voted to classify broadband internet service as a “telecommunications service” under Title II of the Communications Act—an effort better known as “net neutrality.”
- This action is nothing less than a Big Government takeover of the internet that will decrease investment in broadband and hurt Americans’ access to the internet.
