July 10, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), joined by the entire Tennessee delegation, led a resolution congratulating the University of Tennessee on winning their first College World Series National Championship in program history.
“Tennesseans will remember the Vols’ historic 2024 season for many years to come,” said Senator Blackburn. “Led by a record five players with more than 20 home runs, the Vols won 60 games, the SEC regular season, and the SEC tournament on their way to winning the National Championship. It is an honor to introduce a resolution to officially congratulate the student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and fans on a great season.”
“This team achieved greatness under Head Coach Tony Vitello and they deserve to be recognized. They represented our community and state well and I think I speak for everyone when I say we couldn't be more proud of their success this season,” said Representative Burchett.
“We are so proud of our Vol baseball team for their incredible hard work this year,” said University of Tennessee, Knoxville Chancellor Donde Plowman. “They played for each other and showed us all what being a good teammate looks like. They have time and again modeled resilience and what it looks like to be a Tennessee Volunteer.”
